Raymond Chan joined Wilkinson & Grist as trainee solicitor in 1991 and became a partner in 2000. Raymond specializes in corporate and commercial work, banking work and loan transactions. He has extensive experience in handling complicated cross border merger and acquisition transactions, preparation of banking documents for different types of banking products, application to the Securities and Futures Commission for authorization of investment products, providing advice to clients in different industries (including banks, brokers, beverage companies, publishers, fashion companies) on legal issues of different nature (including compliance with privacy laws, securities laws, banking regulations).

1. Representing a number of banks in the preparation of their standard banking documentation for their different lines of business.

2. Representing a number of banks in their loan transactions with the loan amounts ranging from US$50 million to US$400 million involving securities in Hong Kong, China and other jurisdictions.

3. Representing The Bank of East Asia, Ltd in its acquisition of mortgage portfolio from Prime Credit Limited with a purchase price of around HK$ 6,000 million.

4. Representing a Fortune 500 hotel management company in the establishment of a joint venture for the acquisition, development, construction, ownership of hotels in Mainland China a proposed investment amount of US$500 million.

5. Representing Kitchee Foundation Limited in the negotiation of the agreement with Manchester United F.C. in relation to an exhibition match in Hong Kong.

6. Representing several international hotel management companies in the negotiation of more than 80 hotel management contracts with different hotel owners in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other jurisdictions.

7. Assisting clients in different industries in their establishment of wholly-owned foreign enterprises, joint venture companies and representative offices in China.

8. Representing CK Asset Holdings Limited in the disposition of its interest in The Center, an office building in Central, Hong Kong at the sale price of HK$40,200,000,000. This is a record-breaking deal in Hong Kong in terms of consideration and is one of the 2018 Deals of the Year awarded by the China Business Law Journal.

Raymond has been identified as one of the Asia’s leading lawyers by AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers in the area of Corporate/M&A. He has been featured in The Asia Pacific Legal 500. He has also been named in The A-List: China’s Elite 100 Lawyers (Foreign Lawyers) by China Business Law Journal.

Raymond is a contributor to the Hong Kong chapter in the Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Deskbook, a Wolters Kluwer publication.
